A new toy!
Yesterday I went and got Kaylie a playpen so she could have a place to hang out around the house other than the floor, and so she would have a bed when we went to the beach. And bonus... she is mesmerized by the mobile, she just stares and stares at it. The ceiling fan is feeling neglected now however, becuase it used to be her favorite thing to watch.

About Us
I have seen this tag posted by a few of the blogs I visit, and I thought in honor of the five years we are celebrating this weekend it would be fun. Plus my blog is quickly becoming a mom blog, so here is a chance to post ..."about us".
Where did you meet?
We are both from Heber, so we kind of knew who each other was, but the first time we really met was on our first date ( a blind one). We can't believe we never really met before then. When we reminesce about the Heber days it seems like our paths crossed all the time, but we weren't paying attention enough to see each other. When we finally did meet, it was the right time in both of our lives, so I guess it was for the best.
What was the first thought that went through your head when you met?
I can't remeber the first thoughts I thought about Jeff. I remember that he was easy to talk to and that he was really cute.
Do you remeber what he was wearing?
He had on red warm up pants that he still has now...I wore them as pjs when I was pregnant. He also had on one of those hemp necklaces that used to be in, although it is the only time I can remember him wearing something like that . And he had a little facial hair which I love... I think it is ruged and manly.
Where was the first time you kissed this person?
Our first kiss was at my house. It was really stormy and the power was out...how romantic. I had been gone traveling for about a month, and it was our first time seeing each other since I left. I had plans to put the moves on him the night before I left, but he made other plans to play basketball so it happened after I got back... I still give him a hard time about this.
How did he ask you out?
He just called me on the phone. I remeber he said "this is Jeff Carpenter, do you know who I am." I still give him a hard time about this too.
Where did you go for your first date?
We went up Provo Canyon to some campgrounds and had a cookout and campfire and played games with some of his friends.
How long did you know this person before you became a couple?
I don't know when we became a couple, we never had that talk that we were only going to date each other. We dated all summer, and by the time it was time to go back to our different schools, we were a couple. Then we spent the entire school year driving from Utah State to SUU or meeting in Heber every weekend so we could be together.
Has this person ever proposed to you?
Of course, on Nov. 20, 2002. We were in SLC and we were out in temple square. It was freezing and I wanted to go inside. He wanted to stay out in the freeze. He pulled me close to him to keep me warm and I could hear his heart beating really fast. I thought in my head... that is why we can't leave, he is proposing. I knew he had a ring already. I even snooped for it in his room one day when I was waiting for him to get home, but I couldn't find it.
Do you and this person have any kids together?
Kaylie is already one month old, she is getting so big. For our anniversary she gave us a present...she slept the entire time we were out at dinner.
Have you ever broken the law together?
We may have camped in a campsite without putting our money in the little box. We have tried to do this a few times, but I think someone had always found us out. I know, we are wild.
When was the first time you realized you liked this person?
I think for both of us, it was when I left for a month the summer we started dating. I missed him and couldn't wait to see him when I got back. We both say we realized we loved each other on Pioneer Day 2002. It had been our tradition to go to Heber to celebrate Pioneer Day ever since.
Do you get along with this persons ex's?
They are nice girls, but he hit the jackpot with me. Jeff will tell you that I am a jealous person though and I have said why couldn't we have always known each other so I would be your only girlfriend. I did almost name Kaylie the same name as one of his ex's, because I like the name, so I guess I am not that jealous.
What is the most expensive thing this person has ever given you?
I am sure our little girl will be the most expensive thing, but as of right now she hasn't cost that much. He bought me a piano the first christmas in our house as a suprise. He also bought me Toby, our dog as a suprise. He didn't cost that much initially, but if we count up the cost of all the things he has chewed up, he gets expensive. One thing is for sure, Jeff is good with suprises.
What is the one thing this person does to get on your nerves?
He is so one tracked when it comes to sports, he doesn't hear a word I say when there is a game on.
What do you do to get on his nerves?
Probably talking when there is a game on. I also have a problem shutting cupboards after I open them, and it can look like that scene in the Sixth Sense. This bothers him, but I am better about it now.
Where do you see yourself in fifteen years?
If we were exactly where we are now I would be nothing less than thrilled. I only hope there were a few more kiddos in our family.
If you are reading this and you haven't done this tag already...take the trip down memory lane and post about you. It's been fun looking back at how it all began.

Some Picts of Kaylie

I know I haven't posted in a while, and people are asking for picts of Kaylie, so here are a few. Here she is dressed to go out. I think she looks so cute, but maybe I am biased. She is finally starting to fit into some of her clothes...well, almost. She is using her hands so much too, even when she is asleep. It is so funny to watch her try to hold something or push it away. Also, she is in love with her pacifier, and still growing so fast.

In the News

If any of you check KSL.com for news, maybe you noticed that Jeff...or rather his car made headlines. The lady that parked next to him at his office parking garage drove off the edge. It is three stories up. The space next to Jeff's gold Mazda is where the lady was parked before she drove through the edge . Thankfully she is going to be okay, and we can just laugh at seeing Jeff's car on the news.

Hello World!
Finally Springtime!
I just wanted to post some pictures of the tulips. I am so excited they are finally out, because that means it is spring. I guess here in Utah you never know what the weather will do, but we are enjoying the warm weather for now. I planted these last fall thinking they would be up right around the time Kaylie would be born, but they were a few weeks later this year than they were last year. I love to go out in the yard in the spring and summer and see what the plants are doing.

MORE PICTURES OF KAYLIE!

Here is an exhausted mommy loving little Kaylie!
One of our nurses was nice enough to make Kaylie a fun little name tag.
I know that Amy did all the work, but I was pretty tired also. It's amazing how easy it is to just doze off for a few minutes (even on rock hard furniture at the hospital)!
This is one of my favorite pictures! Kaylie has this winking thing down! She almost always opens her left eye first. She is my everything!!!
Here is our little princess getting ready to go home! All of her clothes were too big and she looked like a little South Park character in her seat!
WE PROUDLY WELCOME KAYLIE ANN CARPENTER TO OUR FAMILY!!!
We welcomed our precious Kaylie Ann Carpenter into our family at 10:33 PM on Sunday, April 13, 2008. Kaylie weighed in at an even 7 pounds and was 18 1/4 inches long. Amy and I have been looking forward to this day for some time now and we can't believe the instant bond and love you can have for a child. We love Kaylie!!! Here are a few pictures or our little princess in her first couple of days in the hospital.
Here is Kaylie fast asleep. It was fun to learn the swaddling technique!!! I think I would go crazy if I couldn't move my hands or feet but I'm sure it's rather comfortable for her.
Here is the happy family shortly after Kaylie was born.
It was a lot of fun to have both Grandma's and Aunt Ali at the hospital. I am glad that Ali was there to help approve of Kaylie's first bow!

Myth Busted!
We had heard rumors of it at the doctors office, and a few friends had passed along the urban legend as well. Could such a thing truly exists, a pizza that would induce labor. It comes from Cafe trio in Salt Lake City, so Jeff and I went on Saturday for lunch. Now almost 72 hours after eating the chicken garlic pizza, I can say that it is only that, a pizza - no magical properties included.

First Drive of the Year!!!
In case John looks at this blog in search of a few tips on how to drive the ball straight and far!!! Thanks again for the fun round of golf!!!
GOLF SEASON HAS STARTED

Well, John and I officially started the 2008 golf season at Thanksgiving Point this weekend. We played under some pretty tough c0nditions with cold temperatures and a brisk wind. The toughest part of the conditions was probably the state of our games! For the first round of the year, it went suprisingly well (you can tell it was the first round of the year based on our extremely white legs!!!). John opened with a downhill curving putt for birdie and he should have quit after the first hole! I realize that it really is a stupid question, but yes, in the end I did win. Using our modified scoring, and I emphasize modified, I shot a -2 and John shot a +1. John made a valient charge at the end, but I had built a large enough lead to pull away with the win!
A sign of good things to come is that I only lost 2-3 golf balls during the round. For those of you who have played at Thanksgiving Point before, there are plenty of holes to lose a golf ball.
Overall, we each had holes that we birdied and I think the highest score on any hole was an 8 (we stayed out of double digits!!!). It is always a lot of fun playing with John and I look forward to a great summer of golf!!! John and I are planning on playing our own little tournament this summer with the final round being played at Torrey Pines during the summer. Let's just say that John has a lot of practicing if he thinks he stands a chance!!! Thanks for the good times John and I can't wait for the rest of the summer of golf!

Springtime babies!
Anyone who know me, knows I love animals. It has been a recent change over the last 5 or 6 years...maybe the nurturing in me kicked in. I used to think that animals were dirty and gross and belonged outside. Now every animal is sweet and I want to cuddle on it. The goats at my parents "farm" are all having their kids, ( I am a little jealous of them all), and they are so cute. We had on in the house trying to show Kate, but he was to excited. Only Dad, a.k.a. the goat whisperer, could calm him down. Spring is here and all the new animal babies are being born, we can only hope that our little carpenter will follow suite soon.

What a party girl!
Another party!- Georgia threw baby girl a shower last weekend. It was tons of fun to see everyone and visit... we don't get together enough. Our baby girl got a ton of cute things. A girl can never have enough clothes, especially really cute ones. We can't wait to dress her up in all of her outfits and blankies and try all her new gear out. She certainly does have a lot of people who love her already and we a so grateful for the generosity that has been shown to us and our little one to come. Thanks again to everyone.

A Party for Baby Girl !

The girls at work threw a shower for me and baby girl my last day...and we thought her room was pink before. There are so many cute things in her closet now, I love to go and look. She is going to be one spoiled girl. Thanks so much to everyone who was there. It was so much fun. I really miss hanging out with all my girls, and even the working part of work a
little...although sleeping in till 9 am is pretty great. I guess I'd better now while I have a chance.

More Snow!
Last night we had the biggest storm ever since people started living on Traverse Mountian. There was only about 4 or 5 inches of snow, but wind and ice made it mean. The road coming in and out of the subdivision and I-15 was closed so poor Jeff couldn't get home and had to spend the night in a holiday inn on the other side of the point. And poor me all alone with the power out. People were stuck on the freeway for hours and slept in their cars on the side of the road so I guess we were both lucky to be inside. Toby and I are enjoying being house bound today. This is a picture of the backyard this morning. You can see how ice is still stuck to the side of the door and everything.

Chillin' Chilly
We have so much snow! The news said something like 22 inches fell up here between Saturday and Sunday. Looking at our house Sunday morning we couldn't belive how much there was. Church was even cancelled. Toby was stuck in Heber for a few days becuase the canyon was closed and I couldn't go pick him up after our trip. The snow can be inconvenient, but it sure is beautiful. I love the snow! I love to take Toby running through the snow, especially when it is so high he disappears. I love to be the first one to walk through deep, undisturbed snow. I even love to shovel the snow, though Jeff won't let me shovel much as pregnant as I am. What a great winter!
Jeff and I headed to St. George for the weekend to get some sun. It wasn't hot, but there wasn't any snow, which was a nice change. We stayed at a condo with this cute patio and a great view (see above). I guess the groundhog saw his shadow while we were away, so six more weeks until Lehi looks a little more like this.
